Watch Out For West Nile

The State Mosquito Management Program has identified mosquitoes that have tested positive for West Nile virus in twelve CT towns.  So far the virus has turned up in Bridgeport, East Haven, Fairfield, Glastonbury, Greenwich, Manchester, New Haven, Norwalk, Plainfield, Stamford, Stratford and Westport. The virus has not been reported to have infected any humans yet, but the risk still lingers and is anticipated to worsen toward the end of August and early September. To avoid being bitten by mosquito’s it is best recommended to cover up bare skin, avoid peak hours of exposure (dusk, dawn), use screening or netting when sleeping outdoors and consider using repellents.
