Attention Hospices: New Website Established For Submission Of Claims For Untimely Notices Of Election

Medicare Administrative Contractor (MAC), CGS, has announced a new website for the submission of claims for untimely notices of election (NOE). The new website will assist hospice providers “with determining the receipt date of the NOE” and will also provide “details on how to submit a hospice claim when the NOE is untimely.” Effective for hospice admissions on/after October 1, 2014, the hospice notice of election (NOE) must be submitted to and accepted by CGS within five days after the hospice admission. If it is not received within five days, those days from admission to the day before it was received, are considered non-covered and the provider is financially liable.
