According to the Commonwealth Fund’s latest survey, the United States ranks last compared to other wealthy nations in a review of industrialized nation’s health care systems. The United States fails to achieve better health outcomes than other countries and also ranks last or near last when it comes to access, efficiency, and equity. The survey “incorporates patients’ and physicians’ survey results on care experiences and ratings on various dimensions of care.”
Unlike many other industrialized countries, the United States does not offer universal health insurance. Although the ACA is increasing the number of Americans with coverage and improving access to care, the data in this report is from years prior to the full implementation of the new health law.
