CMS Will Increase Medicare Advantage Pay Rate By 0.4%

The CMS has announced that it will increase the overall rate it pays Medicare Advantage plans by 0.4% in 2015 as a result of “various policy changes” and “new estimates.” These new changes include the administration’s approach to phasing in a new risk model and the decision to “walk away” from a proposal to require that home risk assessments be confirmed by in-office assessments. Some are speculating that the increase is less to do with policy changes, and more to do with politics.
